Begonia dregei 'Glasgow'

I was never much of a begonia person. I have friends who are, but for me they just didn’t click. That was until I saw a Begonia dregei ‘Glasgow’ in a YT video about @stevesleavesinc. Oh, I want one of those. I need one of those. Had to have it.

They were out of stock at the time, so I got on the mailing list and waited. As soon as I got that “in stock” e-mail, I didn’t even pause for a moment before I ordered one. It was a small healthy plant when it arrived, and I tried to do all the right things to make it happy.

After he adjusted, I up-potted him to my house mix and parked him on one of the grow shelves. He grew to be about a foot tall. The leaves, at full size, are only about 1.5” (3.8cm) wide; tiny by begonia standards. They’re a good green, angel wing style, with those beautiful spots. And so now I guess I’m becoming something of a begonia person. Damn, just what I need, another rabbit hole.

Then I come back from a week’s vacation and my begonia buddy starts blooming for me. Awww… So now I’m learning about begonia blooms and thinking about the other small-leafed begonia they carry and pondering where this could lead.

I’ll keep you posted.
