Don’t make me hurt you; all Hoya lacunosa do not look the same. You just don’t know them well enough. If you did, you’d know that Hoya lacunosa ‘Mr Tent’ has beautiful long and narrow leaves. Mine also has a nice rich green color and just the right amount of splash.
‘Mr Tent’ – I’m sure there is a story behind that name. I don’t know what it is yet, but I’ll find out. The first time I saw him I said, “well that’s different” and added him to my wish list. It took a while to find a reasonably priced one, but I did. And it took him a bit to get settled in, but once he did the growing commenced.
He went directly to pon-ish and a self-watering pot; and he may have needed a bit to recover from that transition. He’s under grow lights and gets the standard GH nutrient mix, and in general seems happy with that whole set-up.
Lacunosa may well be my favorite species of hoya, if only because I have more of them than any other. And of that species, ‘Mr Tent’ is working his way to the top of the list. Now if he would just bloom for me…
I’ll keep you posted.
