Hoya caudata, Hoya davidcummingii, Hoya Iris Marie, Wild Thyme

A cold, drizzly day, so four of us got in the car and took a drive over to Logee’s in Connecticut. The “ri” in plantedinri is for Rhode Island which, if you remember your geography, is right next to Connecticut. So, for me, it’s just over there. Which is almost too close.

“Kid in a candy store” doesn’t begin to describe what a trip to Logee’s is like. I spent a lot of time parenting myself, and I was doing well until I got to the hoya section. Then I was sure I’d misread a price. I checked with the nice people up front and no I hadn’t, and this is coming home with me. That happened twice more, though I didn’t need to check those prices, and my basket now appeared full of big hoyas. And how often does that happen?

But the thyme, you may well ask. It’s one of my favorite herbs to cook with. And yes, of course I have dried thyme. But it’s not the same as fresh and so it, too, came home with me. And now I’m thinking about chicken with thyme and lemon.

I love going to Logee’s, but I can’t do it very often. I don’t need to lead myself into temptation. It’s difficult enough to say “no” to plants online. But when they’re right there in front of you, watching you, and they can hear you, it’s almost impossible.

I’ll keep you posted.
