december hoya haul

I know it’s December, but the weather here in southern New England had been rather mild so far. I decided I could risk a shipment, something of a wish list plant, a little something for me. I had checked the weather, and the mildness was expected to continue. It was expected to continue right up until my order was shipped, then the forecast was revised.

The Hoya meredithii was going to be the little something for me. But being me, as I looked through what the seller had on offer, that plan too, was revised. How did I not have a Hoya fungii or a Hoya nicholsoniae? Well since I was ordering the one, I could order a few more, right…

But it took the seller a week to get the order shipped, and over those seven days the expected temperatures were expected to be dropping. It was coming Priority and shouldn’t take more than two days since the seller was just in the next state. Were they going to get too cold? Should I drive over and get them? Is it too late for a heat pack?

They arrived in the two days, and they seem none the worse for their travels. I should have popped for the heat pack. I don’t know if it would have helped, but perhaps I would have worried less.

I’ll keep you posted.
