I never really wanted Ceropegia woodii, let alone the variegated form. Years back, everyone was swooning over them, sharing pictures, comparing length. For a while they couldn’t be found; which was fine with me ‘cause I didn’t want one. I just saw strings of things that were going to end up on my floor.
Then I saw a “String of Daggers” in person, and I wanted it. When I saw the green “String of Hearts” in person, I wanted it too. So now I had two. And of course when I saw the variegated form in person there was no question. I hate when that happens. And they’re epiphytes; I have a thing for epiphytes.
This guy’s sturdy, not the delicate thing he appears to be. He’s tolerant of my sometimes erratic watering, and happy hanging out with the books. Cuttings root with ease, the variegation is cool, and when I’m better about the watering, he blooms. No fuss, no bother, no drama, no trauma. And for the record, very few things end up on the floor.
So I tell him he’s great and I’m happy he’s here, and I don’t bring up that whole not wanting him thing. He just doesn’t need to know how dense I can sometimes be.
I’ll keep you posted.
