Suddenly there were six new shoots in my green Zamioculcas zamiifolia, or ZZ plant. The new shoots are fun. They just seem to take off and go up. They reach their height and then push out the leaves; and that bright green contrasts nicely with the darker, older leaves. The new shoots make me think of fireworks.
The ZZ was another plant I didn’t want until I saw one in person. I’d seen them in quite a few online videos, but video just doesn’t do them justice. They’re sculptural and structural; a statement plant that doesn’t have to be big to make a statement. It’s also really nice to have a plant that will do well in a low light area that isn’t a Sansevieria or a Pothos.
I remember not too long ago that they were hard to find and, especially for the Ravens, very expensive. Now there are ranks of them in almost every big box, and it’s good that the prices have come down, too.
They’re easy. I don’t need to worry about them. They require almost no care and they just grow. That makes them another plant that’s just fun to own; simple and carefree. Have it.
I’ll keep you posted.
