“Hey, Isn’t That…”

One of my favorite serendipitous finds is this Gasteria ‘Little Warty’. On a visit to a big box store, I decided to scan the trays of succulents. I’d been regularly checking for new Haworthia, so I knew some of those trays had been there for months. Some of the succulents showed it.

I had my eyes wide open and had a “hey, isn’t that…” moment. I was pretty sure I knew what it was, and was momentarily curious about why I hadn’t seen him before. Those trays and their contents get shuffled around regularly, and there were pots of succulents everywhere

That little guy was dry, really dry, and had clearly had not seen any love in a while. There was some very minor damage, but overall he looked good; just really thirsty.

It’s a good sized Little Warty, and it was under $5. I didn’t even have to think about that one. He’s home now, and settled into his new terra cotta, he’s had a couple of good drinks, and appears to have “plumped up” a bit. I haven’t always been a succulent fan, but boy has that changed. I’ll keep you posted.
