I do have smaller, and I’ve definitely got bigger. But these three are some of my current favorite small leafed hoyas: Hoya lithophytica, Hoya sp aff serpens (Xiaojie 001), and Hoya lyi.
The lithophytica and the lyi both started out as tiny, rooted cuttings, and because they were so small, I was unsure about their survival. I had already lost one lithophytica, and working with such tiny plants can be unnerving. The sp aff serpens was a tiny unrooted cutting at the beginning, but he rooted right up and has given me no trouble since.
Once they settled in, they’ve been growing strongly. The lithophytica is the newest member of the trio, and he’s still just a single vine at this point. The sp aff serpens has put out two peduncles in the past month so I’m hopeful that I might see a bloom. I’d be happy with just one.
There are a couple more that are just about ready to join the “Little Leaf League”. One is here and another is on the way. I want to make sure they’re healthy before they get to be presented in video.
I’ll keep you posted.
