When I ordered this plant – Hoya krohniana ‘Super Silver’ – over two years ago, I didn’t realize that I’d stepped into the middle of a controversy; two controversies really, all about names.
The first was the debate about whether or not krohniana are actually lacunosa. Fortunately, I’m neither a botanist nor an expert so I can let other people make that decision with no attachment to the outcome on my part. Just let me know what y’all decide.
The second debate was about the descriptor, which was not ‘Super Silver’ when I purchased the plant. I try to be very careful about hoya names, neither adding to nor subtracting from whatever it is when I buy it. But I made the mistake of using the other name in my post, and that set off a bit of a firestorm, and I was roundly spanked online. So, I never learned whether that other name is the same plant as ‘Super Silver’ or is it something else.
And I know that a descriptor isn’t really a part of the plant name, it’s either a helpful adjective or a marketing ploy, but I’m not venturing into that territory again.
I’ll keep you posted.
