An image of Hoya mirabilis 'Clone B' blossoms

This is my second Hoya mirabilis. The first one is still alive, if you can call that living. Better perhaps to say it still exists. New leaves appear and then die, new branches appear and then die. It’s been treated with sulfur frequently, the roots and pon flushed with peroxide. Something’s going on. I’m not sure what, but I don’t have the heart to compost it. Yet.

So, I ordered another one, and it was labeled as “Clone B”. I was excited that it arrived with a peduncle. The peduncle has been tenacious and hung on. I’ve been hopefully watching it for months, and weeks ago it started budding up. That’s when the waiting began in earnest.

I was sure it was teasing me, taunting me. It checked a couple of times a day. The buds seemed a bit plumper, but was that wishful thinking? And just when I thought they couldn’t get any bigger, I was right, they couldn’t. Slowly the corolla started peeling back, and after about twenty-four hours there they were. Pretty and fuzzy. Yay.

There’s a second peduncle on the plant, as well; and it’s just starting the budding process. At least with that one I know what I’m in for.

I’ll keep you posted.
