Hoya acicularis leaf

Before the weather began to get seriously cold, I managed to sneak in a few last shipments of hoyas. A couple are new, a couple are second attempts, and one was a surprise.

I’ve tried both H acicularis and H stenophylla before. They were both tiny, lightly rooted plants, and just never did well. These new plants are better developed. Super narrow leafed hoyas can be challenging, so we’ll see if I get it right this time.

The H spectatissima and the H sp Lai Chau (long leaf) are both new for me. Spectatissima resembles H lyi, which has been doing well for me, and the blooms are supposed to be beautiful. I have the round leaf variety of H sp Lai Chau and just wanted the long leaf one as well. Those leaves are very cool.

The H sp Indonesia was a “thank you” cutting from a seller and I was unfamiliar with it. Doug Chamberlain of Vermont Hoyas recommends it, and well, that’s good enough for me.

So that’s it for this haul. Hard to believe it’s almost December, but the cold weather will give me some time to build up my wish list again.

I’ll keep you posted.
