Early this spring, during a trip to Logee’s Greenhouse, I discovered this healthy and full hoya labeled as Hoya caudata. I already had H caudata ‘Sumatra’ and H caudata ‘Gold’. But on the chance that this was regular caudata, and since the price was right, I brought this one home.
It hasn’t bloomed, so no confirmation yet; and I may drop Logee’s an e-mail to see what they think it is. Even if it is another ‘Sumatra’ that’s fine. It’s a good plant and I’m happy to have it.
But it’s a furry little devil, and you don’t really notice that when you’re just looking at it. You get caught up in the splash, the texture, and the undulate edges of the leaves. It’s not until you look closely that you see that fuzziness – everywhere. Leaves, vines, everywhere.
He seems to have adjusted; there are new growth points and new leaves scattered about. As usual, I want some blooms. But I grow hoyas, so I have learned to be patient, sort of, a little, maybe.
I’ll keep you posted.
