This one, Hoya Rosita, was never on my wish list. I had seen it online but wasn’t terribly impressed. So yeah, it was nice and all, but maybe later, much later. Then I received a free cutting from a nice seller, and oh those leaves are kinda cool.
So, I rooted it up and when it rooted, I planted it up. And Rosita grew, not a speed demon, but steady. When I moved her to the grow shelves, the leaves really developed those beautiful edges, and she grew even more. Space was at a premium, so I decided a trellis would work best for me, and so far, she hasn’t complained.
Hoya Rosita is a hybrid of Hoya wayetii (hence the purple edges) and Hoya tsangii (the real one). Since I have both of those hoyas, I can see their characteristics in this cross. She’s currently growing in a bark/sphag/net pot set-up on the grow shelves, and again she hasn’t complained.
I was happy with her progress, and then another vine started branching off. So, while it’s not yet double happiness, she could be on her way.
I’ll keep you posted.
