Small leaf hoyas are fun. Big variegation is fun. But big variegation on a small leaf hoya is the best. Hoya heuschkeliana (variegated) strikes me as having just that, big variegation on small leaves.
It’s not dainty or fine variegation. It’s big ole chunks of color as if he’s trying to pack as much in each leaf as he can. Of course, there is that one rogue vine that wants to come in solid, and maybe I’ll just refer to it as “neutral variegation”. Perhaps he thought that solid green would make me appreciate the variegation more. That wasn’t necessary.
He’s currently growing in a bark/sphag mix in a net pot and hanging out on the grow shelves. It did seem as though he took a bit of time to get settled, but once he did the show got underway.
This guy’s been good. We both seem happy with the way things are going so I may need to investigate some other heuschkeliana. Yeah, that’s just what I need, another hoya on my wish list.
I’ll keep you posted.
