Hoya lanceolata bella

The solid green was my first Hoya lanceolata bella, and that it is still alive is some kind of miracle. I made the mistake of following internet plant wisdom, which you should never do. Once I scrapped that “wisdom”, things got better.

Now I have three of them: solid green, inner variegation, and outer variegation. There’s a ton of different names and spellings and stories for each variety, and I don’t use any of them. That whole “Anna”, “Annika”, “Lois”, “Luis”, “Bois”, “Buis”, “Blouis” thing seems a bit of a pointless discussion and more of a marketing gimmick.

The three of them are thriving on my grow shelves in pon-ish and self-watering pots. It took them a while to get me there, but they finally did. They like their light and they like their drinks, we share that much at least.

It gladdens me to see them doing so well. I struggled for so long with the first one, almost lost it so many times, that I almost despaired of success. And they are now so beautiful, all I can say is: bella, bella, bella.

I’ll keep you posted.
