I’ve tried sticky traps. I’ve tried mosquito granules. I’ve even relied on tiny spiders. Nothing has worked as well as my Pinguicula agnata, nor given me as much satisfaction.
Not only are those annoying demonic insects almost gone, but their demise is feeding the very thing that caused it. Does it get any better? I think not. In fact, it’s working so well that I may need to set up a place for the gnats to lay eggs just to keep my Ping fed. Now that’s something that appeals to my strange sense of humor.
I had little faith when I ordered my Ping. I thought he’d be, at best, an oddity; something to tell friends about. But after a very short time, I’m all on board with this, and may even order other varieties. He’s got some slight requirements: distilled or RO water, consistently moist soil, and really good light. But for the service he provides, I can do that.
So, my challenge was to showcase a beautiful plant that is covered in the bodies of dead gnats? Nothing else to do but place tongue firmly in cheek and make a pretty video.
I’ll keep you posted.
