It was an “I need one of those” moments the first time I saw this little Hoya lacunosa. I had a couple of other lacs, but the tiny leaves on this plant are something different. So, I searched and finally found a very tiny cutting at a price I could afford.
It did nothing. It has done nothing. For over a year, nothing. It won’t die, it won’t thrive; and I can grow a lacunosa. So, when prices dropped, I found another plant and this one and I get along just fine. The images are of plant number two.
Hoya lacunosa ‘Perangin-Durian’, or maybe ‘Durian-Perangin’, or also maybe ‘Durian-Perangin Waterfall’ I’m told. Enough. Until I get a memo from the front office, I’m sticking with what was on the label. And this one seems very happy just where he is. No drama, no trauma. He’s in pon-ish and a self-watering pot under grow lights, pushing out new growth all over. No blooms yet, but I have confidence. Lacs like to bloom.
There is a lac with smaller leaves, and it’s on my radar but I can be patient. Perangin-Durian is addressing my little leaf lacunosa needs quite well thank you very much.
I’ll keep you posted.
