This plant, Hoya sp Kalimantan, was on my wish list, then off my wish list, then back on again. Several times. Even when it was on my wish list, it kept getting bumped by others. I didn’t think I wanted it as much as I now know that I should have.
Big leaf, veiny hoyas. They’re the gateway hoyas, the ones that lead you in. The ones that whisper, “no it’s not a rabbit hole, it’s just a little window.” They don’t look like anything else, and boy if I could grow a plant like that, wouldn’t that be something. And you can, and you do, and it is.
Mine is growing in bark with a touch of sphag under grow lights, and he seems to like it there. Soon after he arrived last year, he pushed out a new leaf; and when his vine started getting unruly, he got a trellis. With something to support the vine, he started adding tiny leaves. If I remember, they grow big quickly.
Big leaf, veiny hoyas. They’re like potato chips or peanuts, once you start, it’s all over. Can’t wait until all these tiny little leaves become all grown up.
I’ll keep you posted.
