It’s another one of those hoyas that has been reclassified of late. So, now Hoya hellwigiana is Hoya verticillata (hellwigiana). Which isn’t as much fun because it seems everything is now a verticillata and we still need to use the old name as part of the new name to tell them apart; and lots of people still use just the old name.
It does help to know where it fits into the whole scheme of things, but it also seems that no sooner do I learn the name that it changes. Oh bother.
But those leaves, when they first arrive, develop a beautiful white vein pattern, and they’re glossy and green. The gloss and the pattern fade a bit, but I’ll have ‘em. Even though this guy lives under grow lights, the arrival of warmer weather has given him a little extra boost, and the vine is vining and the leafs are leafing, and he seems very happy in pon-ish.
He will need a trellis soon, but I think I’m going to let the new leaves come on a bit more before I start messing about. I’d rather not risk losing any of them, no matter what he’s called.
I’ll keep you posted.
