Once again.

So, my first Hoya mirabilis ‘Clone B’ arrived in a jumbled mess of wet dirt and soggy newspaper. The seller apparently thought it would sit politely in the pot during the shipment. They were wrong. Oddly enough it has survived, though that is all it has done. Nothing else, nada. Move to pon, nothing. Sulfur, nada. Just nothing.

Sometimes it’s like that, sometimes you just get a lousy plant. Which meant I ordered another, which is how I learned that mirabilis is rather unforgiving about that overwatering thing. My valiant attempts at rehabilitation, my last ditch tries with cuttings all failed and one by one the leaves turned a lovely golden yellow and then fell off.

I really want this hoya, there’s something quirky about it that appeals to me, so I ordered yet another. This one was well and securely packaged and looks healthy. Most of my hoyas respond well to pon-ish, and there seems to be less chance of me repeating the overwatering, so that’s where he’s starting out. We’re going to have a little chat to make sure he knows he’s welcome and wanted. Fingers crossed.

I’ll keep you posted.
