He was a sodden mess when I found him. Although several of my hoyas came from big box stores, hoyas and big box stores are not a good match. While I am grateful to have found them, most often it felt like a rescue.
Overwatering. They mean well, and someone did tell them to water the plants in the plant department, which is what they did, and which is why he was a sodden mess. Which is also something Hoya curtisii doesn’t like. At all. Chunky, coarse, airy, and very well-draining is where he likes to park his feet, not the coco peat he was in.
We sorted that, and got him dried out, as it were. Light and water? Yes, please. Though more of the first and less of the second than I expected. With the warmer temps he’s putting out new growth, but then who isn’t these days. He hasn’t bloomed for me yet, but he’s looking good, doing fine, so no pressure on the bloom thing. For now.
He was my first intentionally small leaf hoya, so I could perhaps blame him for all the others that followed. Or thank him. Which is the approach I’m taking.
I’ll keep you posted.
