Hoya lacunosa 'Amarillo' and Hoya polyneura 'Broget'

You’d think by now I would have learned to not decide on a hoya before I’ve grown that hoya. But then I don’t always listen to myself, and things happen, and opinions change.

Hoya polyneura ‘Broget’ was never on my wish list. There was a lot of fuss and bother and a high price tag and I wasn’t going to try it. But then I got a nice thank-you cutting in an order from @koimoonplantco and well why not? It rooted well enough. It didn’t die. It was ok, and I still didn’t get the fuss. Then it put out two new leaves that are just as beautiful as everyone ever said, and I was convinced. I get it.

Hoya lacunosa ‘Amarillo’ I bought simply because I like lacunosa. I did think it was just a bit too weird, and I didn’t really know if I liked the look. I remember thinking “with that kind of variegation, how will I know if it’s dying?” It settled in, rooted up well, and just hung out. Then it decided to grow, and for a lacunosa, it’s a freaking beast. It’s pushing out new leaves, new vines, and I’ve come to really like the variegation after all.

So yeah, a couple of plants that I wasn’t convinced about I’m now convinced about. Minds can change. Which is somewhat concerning, because in addition to a “wish” list, I also have a “never’ list. Oh no.

I’ll keep you posted.
