We’ve have our ups and downs this Hoya curtisii and I. He was a wish list plant for a while, but I never saw him anyplace I went, and rarely saw him offered online. Then one day my plantuition told me to stop at an orange big box, and there he was. Way overwatered, but now mine.
It’s easy, because of the leaf size, to think he’s a delicate fellow, but that’s not the case. He survived the move from soaking glop to a bark and sphag mix. He survived my early attempts at care and tendency to overwater. He survived several relocations until we found his favorite spot. And now I think we’ve figured out the basics.
He hasn’t bloomed for me yet, but that’s fine. It was the foliage that put him on that wish list in the first place; those heart shaped leaves, the camo variegation, that coarse texture. He’s putting out new growth, getting long and dangley, and that’s just what I want.
I’m sorely tempted to take some cuttings and try growing them up something, as opposed to trailing, but that may be a project for closer to spring. For now, he and I are just enjoying the ups we’ve got.
I’ll keep you posted.
