Small leaf hoya; love me some lacunosa, got a taste for tsangi, crave krohniana. Then every so often I want a hoya with bigger leaves, which is how I ended up with Hoya incrassata (outer variegation).
When you go looking for large leaf hoya, there’s a wide range of possibilities; from “that’s kinda big” to “where am I gonna put that?” And I have found myself saying “well that got bigger than I expected” several times, so now I tend to plan around more than expected.
I wasn’t sure about H incrassata when I ordered it, and so far he seems to be still settling in. He probably wasn’t happy about being repotted and slathered in sulfur soon after his arrival. But when he arrived I liked the variegation and the leaf shape, so now I’m just watching for signs of new roots.
Of course there’s still a chance that it could go wrong and go really well, way too well, and I end up with a monster on my hands. But those are the problems I like to deal with.
I’ll keep you posted.
