hoya caudata sumatra

When the sulfur treatment was done and I started rinsing off this Hoya caudata ‘Sumatra’, I wondered how I would know when the sulfur was gone. I decided if the spot didn’t just rinse off, I’d figure it was splash and I wouldn’t be too aggressive with my cleaning.

This hoya has become one of my favorites, though I probably say that about all of them. For hoya heads, they’re all our favorites, mostly. I had my doubts when I ordered it, by they all disappeared when I opened the package and got a glance. Love at first sight.

Then he stopped growing, and along with the others he got sulfured. And almost immediately he pushed out new leaves. Guess there might have been mites. In addition to the new leaves I’ve noticed some growth points that seem to be waking up, so all appears happy in caudata land; or aff caudata, I’m still waiting for the memo on that one.

All the features that I had doubts about are now things that I love about this plant. I love the undulate edges, the cardboard texture, the splashing, the woody vines. I’m not puzzled about this one any more.

I’ll keep you posted.
