I get why people love Hoya lacunosa, and I get why they collect them. I’ve only got four, but I think I might need some more.
They have been so easy; and a lacunosa was one of the first hoyas to blooms for me. And while you may wonder why anyone would need four of any plant, each one has its own qualities. I still don’t know what the one I refer to as CFEA (after the grower) actually is. Their site isn’t specific and the tag was, as usual, no help. The Perangin-Durian has the smallest leaves of any lacunosa. The inner variegated one, well, it’s the variegation. The standard lacunosa? It’s the abs on the heart-shaped leaves.
A tiny spider has taken up residence in one of the pots. He’s there for the gnats, and he is welcome to them. I appreciate his efforts and I do my best not to get in his way. The lacunosas, lacunosae, lacuwhatever, want a bit more water than I first expected; but now we’ve got that sorted we’re all good. I even noticed that another of them is putting out its first peduncle.
If you’re wondering about trying out a hoya, Hoya lacunosa is a good start. I found the CFEA in a big box, and I see other varieties all over; which makes me think my hunt for more is going to be easy.
I’ll keep you posted.
