hoya carnosa krimson princess

Sometimes when I’m thinking about my Hoya collection, I don’t think about my Hoya carnosa ‘Krimson Princes’; which is a shame really. Maybe because it’s not hard to find, and not expensive, and not difficult to grow, and it’s a Hoya I never really worry about. I almost look past it, I almost don’t see it. But when watering time comes and I visit with each plant, I find myself thinking “aren’t you doing well” and “wow aren’t you looking good”.

At this point I’ve got a good number of Hoya, but none of them grow as readily as the Princess. I really do need to give her more respect. Inexpensive, available, and easy, but she’s also just beautiful. I mean look at those leaves. If you’re looking for variegation, you need look no further.

I think this plant in particular was the first Hoya I ever purchased. At the time I wished that I could find, afford, and risk something more exotic, something other than just an old Krimson Princess. But I take it all back now. She’s a favorite. And she survived my early attempts at Hoya care, so points for her.

So she and I go back, we’ve got history. I need to remember that she was the first. She’s the one who opened the door and said, ”Oh look, there’s a rabbit hole here. Let’s go explore…”

I’ll keep you posted.
