dischidia ruscifolia

No sooner do I post a video about the variegated one putting out a solid “white” vine, that the green one says “yeah, but look what I can do.” Everyone wants to be in the spotlight.

This Dischidia ruscifolia and I have been hanging out together for a couple of years now. At first it was touch and go, and I went to epiphyte school with this one. I’m glad he survived my early efforts, that learning curve, and my initial reluctance to understand what epiphyte means. But we’re buds now, no pun intended, and he just keeps growing for me.

So I’m looking over the collection, and I had a “what’s going on here” moment, followed by an “oh, he’s blooming” moment. And that’s why this dischidia is one of my faves; handsome, steady, and always pleasantly surprising. I need a guy like that.

So yeah, blooming gets you another video, but you needn’t feel jealous of the others. I remember where we’ve been and how far we’ve come, and what it took to get us here. But keep up the good work.

I’ll keep you posted.
