The cost of Hoyas is the topic of many discussions. Everyone bemoans the skyrocketing prices, yet the only solution is the one nobody likes: if the price is too high, don’t pay it.
It is, after all, just a plant, and my life will go on whether or not I have it. Is that thing worth that price? Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. And the price will eventually come down. So I search and keep my eyes open, for the collecting isn’t so much in the getting, the collecting is in the finding. It’s about the hunt.
So while hunting I discovered this guy, Hoya verticillata ‘Black Margin’, @gabriellaplantsonline for what I though was a really good price, and it was a yes. He arrived a few weeks ago and settled in; almost as if he didn’t notice the trip or the repotting. The vines just carried on and new leaves started showing up.
Serendipity plays its part in the hunt. That unexpected find, the deal you weren’t looking for, they add to the fun. So you always keep your eyes open, and sometimes you end up with a treasure.
I’ll keep you posted.
