I bought my Hoya carnosa ‘Krinkle 8’ because I’d heard that it was a good grower. I wasn’t really sure that I liked it, but my other Hoya were kinda moping along and I wanted a Hoya that would grow. He showed up, and got potted up.
Everything I’d heard was true. He grew; even through the winter he grew. Granted he slowed down a bit during the winter, but then so did I. But as soon as daylight lengthened he sparked right back up. Existing vines got longer, a new vive sprouted, and then suddenly there was a peduncle. I was very surprised; blooms hadn’t been on my list of expectations for this one.
But last night they opened up, and I’ve been grinning all day. The blooms are really pretty, and different than the other Hoya that have bloomed this year. They’re all pretty, but these feel a little special. I didn’t think I wanted this plant, and he’s done nothing but exceed my expectations. I need to meet a guy like that.
A sturdy, no fuss Hoya with great leaves and beautiful blooms; isn’t that the job description? And as I was taking the pictures, I noticed another peduncle. Yay.
I’ll keep you posted.
