The first time I saw this plant – Hoya sigillatis – I had to have one. It was in someone’s online video, but I don’t remember who. That didn’t even matter, I needed that plant. I found one.
I didn’t know anything about growing Hoya then. I killed that first plant, because how hard could it be for someone who knew nothing to grow an unrooted cutting. Harder than I thought. I ordered another, because how hard could it be for someone who knew next to nothing to grow a “lightly” rooted cutting. Harder than I thought, killed that one too.
Clearly this was operator error, so the operator took a time out from Hoya sigillatis. I chopped and propped other Hoya, learned a bit more about their care. My ardor for the plant hadn’t waned, so when I saw another I ordered it. But no unrooted or “lightly” rooted cuttings this time, I was going to buy a plant.
He’s been here almost a month now, and I’m feeling a little confident that we’re going to be OK. I want this to go well ‘cause I still love those leaves – the shape, the color, the splash. Please, oh please…
I’ll keep you posted.
