strawberry pot light

I had an old strawberry pot that I didn’t want to replant. I needed a bit of evening lighting in my enclosed porch. I had a bit of time to think about it. That’s how this came to be.

The strawberry jar and the six-inch pot I had. The lamp kit, the extra washers, and the cord switch I picked up from a big box store for around twenty-five dollars. I followed the instructions on the kit and the switch packages, and it was quickly assembled. I finished with an LED bulb. It was easy, and I like the result. It provides just enough floor level light so that at night I don’t bump into the furniture on the porch.

If you decide to try one or something similar: Indoors only! Do not use this light any place that’s not dry, enclosed, and weather-proof. Never water a plant while it is on the light. Always use a saucer under any plant you place on top. Combining water and electricity is never a good idea, so don’t allow that to happen. Seriously! Water and electricity together lead to shocking results. I chose an LED bulb because it generates very little heat and so there’s little danger of cracking the pot.

It’s only been a couple of days, but I’m happy with the look and it puts out a neat pattern of light on the floor. Oh what I get up to when I have a bit of time on my hands. I’ll keep you posted.
