hoya chelsea

It’s too bad that I don’t like Hoya carnosa ‘Chelsea’. It’s too bad that I didn’t like it the first time I saw it in a video. It’s too bad that I didn’t like it the next time I saw it in a video either. It’s too bad that I didn’t like it when I saw it on Instagram. And it’s really too bad that I didn’t like it up until the moment I saw it in the big box, ‘cause I didn’t even think twice before I bought it.

It happens. I think I know what I like, or dislike, about a plant. Then I see it in person, live in front of me, and everything changes. I have a “now I get it” moment; and that was the story with Chelsea. I knew exactly what it was and I got “got”. It’s those leaves. It’s always the leaves.

She’s a little overwatered and a little shopworn, so after I get her cleaned up I’m going to leave her to settle in for a bit. Maybe I’ll take a few cuttings for insurance.

She’s trailing now, and I think I’ll leave her like that. It’s so nice that I have those extra ceiling hooks – extra ceiling hooks, who knew there was such a thing? If the cuttings take maybe I’ll try a trellis for them. Yeah, it’s too bad that I don’t like Hoya carnosa ‘Chelsea’. I’ll keep you posted.
