A picture of this Scindapsus pictus ‘Exotica’ was the first plant picture I posted on Instagram when I started my account. She was also my first Scindapsus. Now, over a year later she has become one of my favorites. Don’t tell the others.
I only bought the plant because I thought I should. I saw it. I knew what it was. It was very inexpensive. How could I pass it by? How could I not want it? But the honest truth is I didn’t really want it, but it was too good of a deal.
So I brought her home and got her settled into a new pot and put her someplace nice. And for a bit she didn’t do anything, and then she did, and I liked her a bit more, and then she started growing. She’s never been a speedy grower, but she is consistent. Summer and winter she keeps on growing. During that time I’ve really come to like this plant and I can’t imagine not having one.
I try not to buy a plant with the hope that it will grow on me; too many times it hasn’t. But in this case I lucked out. We’ll do another update in another year.
