-hoya-kentiana

A bit of an update about my variegated Hoya kentiana. It was sort of a birthday present to me back at the beginning of summer. An enabler friend said “You should get yourself a nice plant for your birthday”. It sounded like good advice, and I do try to heed good advice.

I know there’s an ongoing discussion about H. kentiana and H. wayetii. I’m not a Hoya expert. This was labeled as H. kentiana so until I get a definitive answer that’s what I’m going with.

I knew where I would shop, but I didn’t have a specific goal in mind. I would wait and see what presented itself; which of course it did. A soon as I saw it, I knew. Solid color leaves on Hoya are nice, and I have quite a few, but those variegated leaves, oooh-baby oooh-baby.

It seems to take plants a couple of weeks to settle into new surroundings. I had transferred kentiana from soil to bark as well, so a bit of extra time could be expected. But when that “settling in” time had passed, new pink leaves and vines appeared.

He’s never been a speedster, just slow and steady. But those leaves seem well worth the wait.

I’ll keep you posted.
