This tiny blossom may not seem like much. Even though there were a good number of them on the plant, it didn’t amount to a show and wouldn’t really impress anyone. But these tiny blooms made my day when I saw them.
This is on my Dischidia ruscifolia. I had a learning curve with this fellow, but we’re in a better place now. Since they are related, I knew he would probably like the same conditions as my Hoya. When I learned more and changed the growing medium for my Hoya, I changed it for the Dischidia, too. They all responded well.
Since most Dischidia are epiphytes, I grow mine in bark with a few tiny bits of sphagnum, not in soil. I have three species and they all seem to like this super airy mix.
After the change this D. ruscifolia started sending out new growth everywhere. It’s been a treat to see a plant respond so well to a better environment. When I noticed the blossoms, and they’re tiny things, I thought “OK, this is going to work.”
I’ll keep you posted.
