I’ve been ordering from Hirt’s Gardens for well over a year now, which is saying something in itself.
I found their website near the beginning of the lockdowns. I don’t remember how I discovered it, probably by searching for order houseplants online. The site was clean, simple, and very easy to navigate.
And I found plants. Plants I had read about, plants that I had seen online, Hirt’s had them. The selection was surprising; they had something that would appeal to just about everybody. Their descriptions were good, so I knew what I would be getting. The pictures on the site, as it turned out, were entirely representative of what would arrive. Some of the plants were going to be small, but if I did my part they would grow.
My local plant stores were closed so I didn’t have many options. I had never ordered plants online, and thinking about what could happen to a plant during shipping gave me pause. But I registered and placed my first order.
When it arrived, I wasn’t disappointed.
Since that first order, I’ve ordered from Hirt’s many times. They may not necessarily have all the crazy, hot, trending plants, but a good portion of my collection came from them. They seemed to have the plants I was looking for. Their prices were, and importantly have remained, really good. Their shipping charges, too, have remained reasonable. Over the past year I’ve seen prices skyrocket on other sites, but Hirt’s seems to have tried to hold the line.
My orders typically ship out in one or two days, and I usually receive them within a few days. Case in point, my most recent order was placed on a Sunday, was shipped on Monday, and I received it on Thursday. The packaging wasn’t fancy – no stickers or thank you cards, and it wasn’t all biodegradable – but most importantly the plants arrived healthy, safe and sound. I consider that well done. I check the site regularly to see what’s new.
I never hesitate to order from Hirt’s. The combination of a very good selection, great prices, reasonable shipping charges, and quick shipment is a winner.
