You know how you know what you know, until you know that you don’t.
Philodendrons were old lady plants. My grandmother had one. My mother tried to grow one. Katharine Hepburn had a monster of one in “Desk Set”. Not for me. Then I saw a plant with cool leaves that I really liked, and I set about finding one. I learned it was a Philodendron. It wasn’t my grandmother’s Philodendron at all. Preconceived notions can be so bothersome.
Fast forward a bit and I’ve now got five different “old lady” plants. This is one of the latest additions, Philodendron ‘Burle Marx’. I like the glossy, elongated leaves and that it’s somewhat self-contained. He settled in rather easily, and we got to know each other. Since then he has seemed pretty happy, and that makes two of us.
It’s so annoying when you have to rethink a part of your world. I’ll keep you posted.
