But They’re Different.

hoya wayetii

If you’re a Hoya head, you’ve heard the whine from other plant people: “Hoya? But they all look the same…”

We pay them no mind. This is Hoya wayetii, and I found him at a local “destination” nursery. What is a “destination nursery” you may well ask, as did I. In addition to a huge selection of outdoor plants and trees, they have a large greenhouse, a conservatory, a fancy showroom with pots and wind chimes and bird seed, and a café. Yes, a café. Who knew you could get so hungry plant shopping? But we did, so we did, and the food was actually quite good.

Feeling replenished, I did one more turn around the greenhouse and noticed this little guy. I have a variegated kentiana. I did not have a wayetii, and I just appreciated the simple green leaves with the purple margins. The price was good. I noticed the top edges of the plug fabric, so I knew the situation. He’s home, freed from the mesh, and repotted in bark. There are little bits of new growth, so yeah.

And they’re not all the same.

I’ll keep you posted.
